region, a country!
-For
the neighborhood "Agua Bendita"
and the team that goes weekly to teach literacy and
Bible!

From
Chris & Kathy...
|
|
 Dear
,
It's
been a hard summer for our family: loss of Kathy's
stepdad after a 5 month hospitalization and battle
with cancer, Chris lost vision in 50% of his left eye
while driving to Chicago from Tenancingo, which needed
extensive testing and treatment, Samuel fractured his
hand, Kathy had another epidural and 3 skin biopsies,
etc. You all really stepped up to the plate to prayer,
love, support and encouraged us. We can say with the
Apostle Paul, "Every time you cross my mind, I
break out in exclamation of thanks to God...each one
is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you
with a glad heart. I am so pleased you have continued
on with us, believing and proclaiming...right up to
the present." (Philippians
1:3-4; Message))
We
are all back in Mexico finally and amazed at how God
has been working, in ways we never thought or
imagined! Read on...

God's
vision, our dream-becoming a reality!

We
were told we HAD to go and see what was happening in
Agua Bendita. (The very poor neighborhood mentioned in
our last update where we were helping building a stick
house) A group called "Un techo para mi
pais", or "A roof for my country" had
met Berenice a few months ago while they were doing a
survey and asked if she knew of a very poor group of
people that they could help! She immediately
told them of Agua Bendita and La Compuerta. This
group, made up of thousands of university students,
went to these neighborhoods to ask the people about
their needs. They then raised $25,000US for the
project. This Sunday they were building FIFTEEN
houses in our city (100 in the region). First time
homes for these families who have previously been
living in make-shift stick, plastic structures.
(photo below is previous "house")

We spoke to one of the youth in charge, Fernando.
Their vision is to eradicate poverty in Mexico!
Building a house is only phase 1. They will return to
ASK the people about educational, social, job training
needs and then network to provide solutions!
We have had the vision to transform Mexico (thus the
City of Refuge) meeting the physical, educational,
social and spiritual needs of the people, by
incarnating Jesus! Youth and some adults in our
church were already doing this type of outreach on
their own for months in different areas. God has
brought the structure that we can join with to reach
these people who feel so invisible, abandoned.
Mexicans reaching Mexicans with a message of hope!

home)
