Luis, with his big friendly smile, said to us last Wednesday, "four more people came to Christ last Friday night, and a new church is being planted." Luis, a graduate of the Center for Church Planting in Tenancingo, has seen over 22 family members receive Jesus Christ as their Savior, over the last few months. This year Luis began planting this new church in an isolated town in the mountains, about a 3 hour drive from Tenancingo. As far as we know, this is the first time the Gospel has entered this forgotten town.
Many in the town knew Luis when he was preparing to be a Catholic priest. In his last year in Seminary, Luis was mistakenly diagnosed with epilepsy and forced to leave his studies. After leaving the seminary, over a 7 year period, Luis began having daily seizures. His condition lasted over 7 years when doctors discovered he had a brain tumor, not epilepsy.
On the verge of death after a surgery, Esteban, then a student at the Center for Church Planting, shared the Gospel with Luis and prayed for his healing. Luis accepted Christ as his Savior and recovered from his grave health situation. Luis testifies that God healed his tumor and gave him a second chance to serve Him.
Six months after receiving Christ, Luis began our church planters seminary program. Every week, for over five years, he traveled hours through the mountains to study in Tenancingo.
Just this year Luis renewed contact with friends in mountain town, and began telling them of his powerful God.
Prayer partners and supporting friends, this is our call. We are called to train Mexican church planters like Luis, coach them, and love them, as we together penetrate the 70 most abandoned and forgotten towns of this region with the love of Christ. We are called, with you and many like Luis, to see this region transformed.
Thank you for your faithfulness in praying for us, supporting us, and being part of this church planting team.
