Victor's Story

 
    "You already took California and Texas from us, now you want to take my religion too," said Victor to me (Chris) his large burly face redding with anger.  He had been drinking. I assured him, in this conversation about ten years ago,  that I was talking with him because I cared for him and his family, not to take away his religion.  Jesus, I explained to him, was a relationship not a religion. 
   
   Today Victor and I talked in my office after the morning worship service in Tenancingo. He and his wife had cooked a delicious lunch for the first day of our summer evangelistic campaign.
  
   After talking with Victor about Christ numerous times over the last number of years, Jesus revealed himself to Victor in an Alcoholics Anonymous weekend retreat about 3 years ago.  Shortly after, he began attending our church in Tenancingo with his wife.  They both accepted Christ, God freed him from a lifetime of drinking, and restored his marraige. They have been growing in discipleship, and witness to other alcoholics.  They love to cook and serve, like today.

    Victor has asked me numerous times, to thank those who pray for us.  He knows that God broke into his life, and saved his family because many were praying for him.
