Dear
We heard banging on the windows of a house on the
street our summer missions team was teaching a kids club. A boy and
girl were locked locked in a room in that house, and were trying to
get out attention by banging the plastic covering the iron girded window
frame.
These two, who appear to be children, are young adults
and they are prisioners in a small room with no bathroom, and no
lights. As they banged harder and faster, team members approached
the window. They smelled an aweful stench come from the room as
they talked to the youth in the room. The girl inside talked with
grunts. Our team members told talked to them and offered them
food. The Small hands came up through the window and took the
food. One of the team members cried. She couldn't believe what she is
seeing.
A neighboring couple, who houses one of our prayer groups, told us the
children are not mentally retarded. They have been beaten, tied up,
and abused for years. The boy (Oscar) is about 28 and the
girl (Vicki) is about 23. Their mother, who is a protitute living at
another location, apparently sends food. Four years ago their alcoholic
father died, and they were locked in the room.
The neighbor couple made a strong attempt with a lawyer to help the
captive youths. Another of our church leaders put in a report to the
Mexican DCFS. Both attempts have failed. The law gives preference to
the mother who feeds them and provides a roof over their head.
We are making this abuse and injustice public. My administrative
assistant is trying to contact a human rights good for help. We pray
that God would give us connections with an international human rights
group to appeal to the Mexican government for help.
