Some of our team and Om Elrahim (sp?) an 85 year old woman whose
story was defining for my experience in Egypt. Her husband died
seven years ago, and her children have abandoned her, even though
they live above her. Her home is this one room with some dirty
dishes and some sheets for a bed. Rats and cockroaches live here
too.

An outside view of Om Elrahim's home. You can see her in the only
open space (her "door") smiling as we leave her for the last time.
The outside of her one room home is covered in garbage. Her chair
can be seen too. This is where she spends much of her days,
watching her neighbors.

This is Jusef, a little boy at Sisters of Charity. He was a
troublemaker, but one of the more active kids who was always
smiling. He will stay here until he is two years old when he will
go (?) full-time. Our team would see him at night in the monastery
with his mother.
